The Tide and the Sky: Religious Celebration: Part 1

Argimon's ancestors have no graves - the ground near his village is too hard, only rocks and clay. So dead people are not buried but burned. The places to remember were the lighthouses. It is the symbol of sun on earth which helps seamen to find their way home. So during the festival people go to the lighthouse and pray to the Sun goddess, bring flowers and food, sit there and remember their ancestors. It is very important place also because many people die during fishing. To remember them people make small boats filled with flowers and candles.

As the night felt, beastmen and people started appearing to the hill. Everyone was carrying a candle or a lamp, a carpet and some food or drinks. This was the night of remembrance, foreboding the festival. Argimon was going with his uncle, who was silent all the way, but he knew, that after some drinks his relative will start telling endless stories about their ancestors. Argimon knew every one of them, telling about his grandgrandfather coming in their village, or about their aunt catching a swordfish, but still wanted to hear them again. From the hilltop they saw that kids were on the beach and have already prepared memorial boats. They lit them and put in the water. Now the sea was covered with small fires. People stood and watched in scielence – such beautiful view brought up sad memories. After some time they started sit down and lay out the food. Argimon sat down and prepared to the first pray for the souls of their gone relatives.
